IMPEACHMENT'S ON THE MOVE
8 October 06, Sunday - Yesterday I drove 100 miles to Voorhees to a Progressive Democrats of South Jersey meeting called by our great friends and supporters Joanne and Tim O'Neill.

22 people turned out for an excellent meeting. The How to Impeach dvd was shown, and Jonathan Pyle, a really dedicated young lawyer with the Center for Constitutional Rights, spoke first. He related his work in representing over 150 people detained by the Bush regime, including a number of Iraqi teenagers who were arrested by U.S. soldiers even though the translator assured that "they're just kids in the wrong place at the wrong time."

The 5 kids were taken and put in wooden boxes a yard wide with their hands in plastic cuffs.

They were brought out of the boxes and made to stand in the sun blindfolded. One was hooded, another had electric shocks applied to him. The lawyer said there's no proof at all that they were in any way involved in combat or any activity against the U.S. soldiers.

The lawyer flew to Iraq on his own ticket to take depostions and investigate cases of people sent to Gitmo. No habeas corpus of course. He told me that one "interrogator" he interviewed bragged proudly that he got a prisoner to "admit" he's Saddam Hussein, as if it were a point of pride that he was able to torture the man so well that he would say he's Saddam in his desperation to stop the pain.

That is un-American.

I delivered my rap and the entire group agrees that impeachment must be done. I sold out all the books I brought with me, and one woman asked me to take her check to cover Mark Crispin Miller's Fooled Again plus shipping to her from my house.

For our members who're subscribed to our yahoo site, you know today I posted our fancy .pdf documents for impeachment. This makes it a lot easier to print our basic materials to share with others. This will have to do until we get our new site here configured so we can properly post the .pdf documents on ImpeachThem.com

That brings me to another plea for assistance from all who are experienced in web site work. There's still so much to be done before our site is where we need it to be. Tomorrow, October 9th at 7:30, we have an excellent meeting planned, featuring Ken Dalton from New Jersey Veterans for Peace. Ken is presenting a critically acclaimed film SIR! NO SIR!, a really important film that documents the real truth of the hidden history of the magnitude of resistance to the Vietnam war by people within the armed forces. It's crucial viewing at this time especially, when the numbers of people deserting the Iraq war are increasing substantially.

What should we plan for our next meeting? We have IRAQ FOR SALE, which is sweeping around the country now, and we also have several editions of Loose Change to consider, the film that proposes a conspiracy in the 9/11 attack. I want to ask our members at our meeting on the 9th to choose which flik we should next show.

One potentially great thing that happened yesterday in Voorhees is a woman, who our dear friend Joanne said was "stubborn" about the impeachment issue, came around and decided to get behind the impeachment movement. She asked if I planned to attend a NJ Democratic Party affair on November 2nd. I said I knew nothing about it. She said it was a $100 per plate dinner at which Lautenberg, Menendez and Corzine are expected to attend. Here's the kicker. The lady told me she would pay for me to attend so I can try to talk to the big shots about getting on board our impeachment train! That's good news.

What will the Bush gang do to try to block democrat victories in the House and Senate?

In a posting here on our site, we have a frightening article by Gary Hart that says basically that we shouldn't be surprised if Bush launches a nuclear attack - bunker busters probably - on Iran's nuclear operations, more in an effort to swing the security paranoia in our country to the Republican side for the election.

We have an informal betting pool on the Bush gang's October Surprise:

1. On account of Gary Hart's article, I move the attack on Iran to #1.

2. Osama Bin Laden's head on a silver platter, 2 days before the election.

3. A catastrophic terrorist attack in a U.S. or Canadian city; possibilities include Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas, Toronto, Winnepeg, Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver, or Montreal.

4. Some act by North Korea provoking an international crisis with movement by U.S. military forces in the region and W's threat to deploy nuclear missiles.

5. Colombia sounds an international alarm over invasion of sovereign Colombian territory by the armed forces of Venezuela, Bush sends troops to protect Colombia from the terrorist Chavez.

I hope none of these comes to pass.

In this mean time, we need to move more aggressively to persuade
our New Jersey legislators to get behind the Resolution to Impeach.
The press of time is so huge and unrelenting.
